Geropsychiatric Changes brought on by the aging process can be challenging, overwhelming and sometimes debilitating. That's why we offer geropsychiatric services to seniors suffering from emotional and psychological distresses such as depression, anxiety, changes or problems with medication, dementia and psychiatric disorders resulting from other medical conditions.
Becoming aware of and understanding how the aging process can affect a person's mental health is an important step of the healing process. Our geropsychiatric unit combines a safe environment, a structured and supportive social setting and intense psychiatric and psychological therapeutic intervention to help seniors achieve their optimal level of functioning.
Our treatment plans include:
- Admission screening
- Evaluation and assessment
- Individual treatment planning
- Individual and family therapy
- Group therapy (occupational and activity)
- Medication management
- Discharge planning
- Outreach and aftercare
- Family and caregiver support
The Reid treatment team includes psychiatrists, physicians and medical specialists, registered and licensed practical nurses, licensed clinical social workers and occupational & recreational therapists.
