Health care crisis, high unemployment demand tightened financial policies at Reid Hospital

Rising unemployment, Medicaid reductions, slated cuts to Medicare from health care reform and increasing numbers of people unable or sometimes unwilling to pay for services have forced Reid Hospital to tighten financial policies to ensure fairness and good stewardship.

3 Reid Community Benefit grants announced

Three organizations have received grants to improve community health and fitness from the Reid Hospital & Health Care Services Community Benefit committee.

Reid plans booth at Darke County Fair

Patrons of this year’s Darke County Fair will be able to collect wellness tips, gather medical information and find informed comment at the Reid Hospital & Health Care Services booth, which will also offer daily door prizes.

Reid offers various psychiatric services ranging from adults and seniors to chemical dependency and addiction treatment. The following is a list of our available behavioral healthcare resources and services:

Aurora - Serves patients and families experiencing impairment and distress due to substance abuse and addictions
Adult Psychiatric Unit - Inpatient crisis stabilization
Community Outreach Services - Provides on-site evaluation and treatment for residents of extended care and assisted living facilities who suffer from mental and emotional psychiatric problems
Consult - Liaison Psychiatric Services provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment to medically ill patients on medical and surgical units
Geropsychiatric Unit - Provides inpatient services for senior patients suffering from emotional and psychological distress
Outpatient Psychiatric Services - Serves adults 18 and older whose emotional and psychological needs can be met appropriately in an outpatient setting
Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) - A modernized and effective treatment that is administered under general anesthesia for people with severe or treatment-resistant depression, as well as other hard-to-treat mental health diagnoses
Vagal Nerve Stimulation (VNS) - A new treatment approved by the Federal Drug Administration in August 2005 for treatment-resistant depression
