Our hospital gift shop has the feel of a modern boutique. Plentiful glass and tasteful lighting combine with earth tones and a healing environment. The Ginkgo Boutique features a beverage cooler for soft drinks and water, new to the store, as well as a free gift-wrapping station and a helium tank for balloons.
The Ginkgo and Reid go together, literally. When the original Reid Memorial Hospital opened in 1905, a "broomstick"-sized gingko was planted in front. As Reid has grown and changed since, so has the tree, which is located near what used to be the hospital's main entrance for almost 70 years. Noted for dropping its leaves in almost a single day, this tree became the focus of friendly wagers among the Reid team members on the date the leaves would fall. This tree has stood watch over countless celebrations, sorrows, crises and miracles. Now, the ginkgo is planted in a healing garden in front of the hospital. The tree and tradition also continues in the name of our gift shop.
