Wellness Information
Reid's mission is wholeness in body, mind and spirit. Our dedication to this mission is not just when the people we serve become ill. "Reid About Wellness" is our way of promoting good health in our community so that people are encouraged to take charge of their health and take the steps necessary to stay well. Wellness is practicing good nutrition and exercising regularly. It is knowing your risk factors for disease and getting the life-saving screenings as they are recommended to spot any problems early, when they are the most treatable. We have dozens of stories, for example, of people who have had the Reid About Wellness Heart CT scan and saved their life by spotting heart problems in time to do something about it. From screening scans to good nutrition and weight loss, we encourage you to take charge of your health and consider these screenings and other resources at Reid: This test takes about 15 minutes and costs only $99. This brief, non-invasive procedure can spot plaque building up in coronary arteries. Schedule: (765) 983-3358. This test is also quick and easy and also costs just $99. Anyone who smokes or has ever smoked, been exposed to secondhand smoke, or has a family history of lung cancer should consider this screening. It is also something to consider in areas with high levels of radon gas, as in regions like Indiana and Ohio. Schedule: (765) 983-3358. Heart-Lung Scan Combo This package includes both the lung and heart scan at a reduced rate of $175 for both. Schedule: (765) 983-3358. The Reid Breast Center offers the best digital mammography available for women in a pleasant, dedicated environment - easily accessed just inside the main entrance of Reid Hospital/Reid Outpatient Care Center. Schedule: (765) 983-3358.. Nourish You is our 16-week adult weight management program meets that weekly for a one-hour class. Class times vary from early morning or lunch time, to after work. No physician referral is needed. One-on-one medical nutrition counseling is also available through Diabetes & Nutrition Education. Information: (765) 983-3423. The Reid STOP program is a 12-week pediatric weight management program with nutrition, physical activity and behavioral components. (765) 983-3423 Diabetes Prevention & Management The experts in our Diabetes & Nutrition Education Department provide resources such as a pre-diabetes class focusing on preventing diabetes - our self-management class is for those with the disease who want to take charge and keep it under control. Mental/Emotional Health Reid Psychiatric Services provides inpatient and outpatient services for treatment of addictions, depression and issues with aging adults. (765) 983-3298 Golay Chapel & Spiritual Support For patients and families on our campus, the Golay Chapel provides a quiet place of meditation and prayer. On the second floor near the outpatient and inpatient surgery areas, the chapel is available 24/7. Reid also has a chaplain and a volunteer team of ministers of various faiths available. Massage Therapy Massage therapy is available to Reid patients and the public by licensed massage therapists in a relaxing spa environment. Life Line Wellness Screenings Reid and Life Line Screening are offering life-saving wellness test packages, check the calender of events for the next event. The preventive screenings and scan packages can find problems including blocked carotid arteries, abdominal aortic aneurysms, hardening of the arteries in the legs, atrial fibrillation and bone density. The five non-invasive tests take 60 to 90 minutes and can be accomplished in a package for $149. Appointments are limited.
